About The Position

The position involves performing diagnostics and executing repairs on a wide array of control system hardware and software, with demonstrated expertise in PLCs, DCS, and telemetry. This includes comprehensive servicing of instrument loops and their associated field devices and transmitters. The role requires executing systematic root cause analysis to diagnose and resolve complex failures across integrated mechanical, electrical, and operational systems, specializing in electrical apparatus such as transformers, relays, generator controls, and high-voltage distribution networks. Responsibilities also include the installation of new electrical equipment, conducting equipment maintenance, monitoring critical plant parameters, and managing work orders in the Computerized Maintenance Management System. The position may require medium and high voltage switching of electrical systems and performing routine electrical maintenance on various electrical systems. The candidate will also implement management-approved capital projects and ensure compliance with facility regulatory, environmental, health, and safety procedures.

Requirements

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting; knowledge of VBA preferred.
  • Familiarity with NERC standards related to critical infrastructure protection.
  • Understanding of cybersecurity principles related to industrial control systems.
  • Experience deploying and maintaining industrial automation networks with various communication protocols.
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations such as 40CFR Part 75 and Part 60.
  • Experience with battery chargers, inverters, and battery management systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with configuration and troubleshooting of Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and PLCs.
  • Knowledge of gas turbine control systems.
  • Experience with low, medium, and high voltage switchgear and transformers.
  • Familiarity with operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of CEMS systems.

Responsibilities

  • Performs diagnostics and executes repairs on control system hardware and software, including PLCs, DCS, and telemetry.
  • Executes systematic root cause analysis to diagnose and resolve complex failures across integrated systems.
  • Installs new electrical equipment or supervises installation as required.
  • Utilizes electrical test equipment to troubleshoot and solve problems.
  • Conducts equipment maintenance, including cleaning, adjusting, and preventive or corrective maintenance.
  • Utilizes facility operating procedures and equipment technical manuals for maintenance and repair.
  • Monitors critical plant parameters to ensure optimal and safe operating conditions.
  • Informs management of unusual conditions and provides updates on job progress.
  • Creates, submits, and closes preventative and corrective work orders in the CMMS.
  • Performs medium and high voltage switching of electrical systems.
  • Performs routine electrical maintenance on low, medium, and high voltage systems.
  • Implements management-approved capital projects, including due diligence and proposal submissions.
  • Identifies parts and labor for procurement and submits purchase orders for approval.
  • Reads and complies with facility regulatory, environmental, health, and safety procedures.
  • Works overtime and/or irregular hours, including on-call duties, as required.
