About The Position

As an Instrumentation and Controls Engineer III at Eichleay you will work within multi-discipline project teams to complete the design and engineering of instrumentation and controls (I&C) scope for various and diverse projects. You will independently apply broad knowledge of principles and practices in the I&C discipline across a wide range of projects. Your position may require you to work on several moderate sized and complex projects at a time, review documents for conformity and quality assurance and perform deliverable checking. You may be asked to lead and direct a team of I&C engineers and designers and develop project scopes of work, budgets, and schedules. The I&C Engineer III is responsible for analyzing and interpreting data and working to provide solutions for complex engineering issues. Position Summary The I&C Engineering III position calls for a candidate with thorough knowledge of I&C engineering principles and practices. This engineer will be responsible for evaluating, selecting, and applying broad I&C engineering knowledge to analyze data and develop solutions for complex technical issues. The position involves contributing to both single-discipline and multi-disciplinary projects, collaborating closely with I&C engineering and design teams, and potentially overseeing the work of other engineers. The position requires the candidate to work independently but occasionally will work under senior instrumentation engineering supervision. Responsibilities also include preparing scopes of work, budgets, and providing input to project schedules.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5+ years’ experience in I&C Engineering for Refinery or other oil and gas related industries.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in engineering or scientific discipline from an ABET accredited program.
  • Ability to coordinate with other disciplines and project management in a team environment.
  • Coordinate with vendors and clients.
  • Manage budgets and schedules.
  • Possess strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and Bluebeam.
  • Experience with instrument specification and data sheet creation.
  • Experience with Smart Instrumentation (SI) / Smart Plant Instrumentation (SPI) including basic loop creation, spec sheet (datasheet) creation and basic loop wiring.
  • Familiarity with ISA, ANSI, ASME, API, and NFPA standards.
  • Familiarity with instrument sizing and selection including flow meter, thermowells, and control valves.
  • Ability to form and foster collaborative relationships within Eichleay and with clients and partners.
  • Frequent travel will be required to a nearby refinery site location.
  • All opportunities with Eichleay will require authorization to work in the US without the need for sponsorship.
  • Positions will require in-person interactions and may require working on site in an office or field environment.
  • This position is subject to federally mandated drug/alcohol testing.
  • Candidates applying to Eichleay must have the ability to be badged and maintain a badge as a safety sensitive position and/or within the Building and Construction trade for process safety management governed facilities. This will require in-depth drug screening for all positions.

Nice To Haves

  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE)
  • Experience working onsite at a refinery or similar industrial facility.
  • Experience with vendor instrument sizing programs, including Emerson and ASME PTC 19.3TW-2016 and InstruCalc Sizing software is desired.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate awareness and commitment to health, safety and environmental issues. Address issues as necessary to ensure zero harm to all employees, clients, and contractors with zero environmental incidents.
  • Consistently achieve goals, delivering quality and accurate work and meeting project schedules. This includes reviewing project documents for conformity and quality assurance.
  • Support assembly of I&C engineering, drawing and construction work packages for review and approval.
  • Participate in HAZOP and LOPA reviews under guidance of more experienced engineering staff when required.
  • Familiarity with calculations and understanding of safety instrumented systems (SIS) design with guidance from SIS subject matter specialists.
  • Experience with the selection, and sizing of various field instrumentation, analyzer systems, flow measurement devices, control valves, and PSVs in industrial applications independently and with guidance from more experienced engineering staff.
  • Respond to construction requests for information (RFIs).
  • Perform scope development and create technical specifications for I&C equipment and modifications.
  • Prepare material requisitions for bid and technical bid evaluation, including reviewing of specifications of equipment, and responding to vendor submittals.
  • Ability to provide man hour estimates to support proposals and material quantity takeoffs for cost estimates.
  • Attend and participate in Client and Eichleay project team meetings.
  • Maintain schedule and budget commitments.
  • Ensure compliance with site, global and industry I&C standards, including ISA, ANSI, ASME, API, and NFPA standards.
  • Support project construction, commissioning and start-up as well as client site turnaround activities as required.
