The teacher must adhere to all board and school policies, align with the philosophical framework of the school and department, and attend all faculty meetings. Professional development through curriculum research, study groups, committees, workshops, and organizations is encouraged, provided it does not interfere with classroom duties. High standards of professional dress, written and spoken communication, and conduct are expected. The teacher is responsible for preparing current lesson plans, maintaining a cooperative attitude with all stakeholders, participating in extended school activities and community affairs, and demonstrating concern for students' academic and social welfare. Maintaining an orderly classroom, directing student learning appropriately, assisting students with missed work, and using acceptable disciplinary methods are also crucial. The teacher must approach discipline with understanding, avoid prejudice, and engage openly and courteously with parents/guardians regarding student progress and welfare. Outside employment is permissible only if it does not conflict with professional duties or status. The administration may assign other duties as needed.
