About The Position

The Instrument Technician role at Syngenta Crop Protection involves providing technical support and assistance for maintenance activities related to process instrumentation, electrical, and control systems. The technician will troubleshoot and resolve equipment failures, ensuring that all systems are restored to operational condition while maintaining safety and efficiency at the St. Gabriel site.

Requirements

• Able to systematically troubleshoot instrument and system failures and effectively report findings.
• Understand basic maintenance processes & systems used to plan, schedule, and execute work.
• Knowledge of SAP PM module.
• Experience using AMS.
• Minimum of two years direct experience in troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of control system devices such as valves, sensors, flow devices, level devices, and electrical equipment.
• Experience in troubleshooting, installation, maintenance, and repair of Burner Management Systems, Fenwal Systems, DCS, PLC, AS-I bus, Fieldbus, Profibus, and VFDs.
• 2 years formal I & E training/schooling preferred.

Responsibilities

• Accountable for the safe and efficient installation, maintenance, calibration, and improvement of process instrumentation and specialty control system devices.
• Understand and interpret technical manuals, electrical schematics, drawings, P&ID's, and PI historian.
• Assist in planning and scheduling work to meet overall maintenance and production requirements.
• Maintain and update technical information, drawings, calibrations, and maintenance records.
• Interact with production unit personnel and provide knowledge of process instrument controls.
• Participate in callouts and overtime in units of the plant.
• Proactively seek to improve and implement control systems additions to solve operational problems, improve plant reliability, and reduce operating costs.
