About The Position

The Instrument Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and calibration of instrumentation and control systems in a manufacturing environment. This role ensures that all instrumentation and process control systems operate efficiently, safely, and in compliance with industry regulations and company standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree or certification in Instrumentation, Electronics, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of [X] years of experience in instrumentation and controls within a manufacturing, industrial, or process plant environment.
  • Strong understanding of electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic control systems.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA systems is a plus.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., OSHA, ISO, FDA, GMP) preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and P&ID diagrams.
  • Hands-on experience with calibration tools, digital multimeters, and other diagnostic equipment.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work independently or within a team.
  • Ability to lift up to [X] lbs and work in various environmental conditions (e.g., confined spaces, heights, hot/cold environments).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a food, pharmaceutical, or chemical manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with DCS (Distributed Control Systems) and automated process controls.
  • Certification as an Instrumentation Technician (e.g., ISA Certified Control Systems Technician) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and repair instrumentation, control systems, and electronic equipment used in manufacturing processes.
  • Calibrate and configure instrumentation, including sensors, transmitters, controllers, and analyzers.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose malfunctions in process control equipment, using diagnostic tools and testing equipment.
  • Interpret and update technical documentation, including wiring diagrams, schematics, and control logic diagrams.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and inspections on instruments and control systems to minimize downtime.
  • Ensure all work complies with safety regulations, environmental policies, and industry standards.
  • Assist in system upgrades, modifications, and continuous improvement projects.
  • Collaborate with engineers, maintenance teams, and production staff to resolve issues and improve system reliability.
  • Maintain accurate records of calibration, repairs, and maintenance activities.
  • Train operators and technicians on the proper use and troubleshooting of instrumentation.
