Position Purpose: The Sterile Processing Instrument Technician is responsibility for the cleaning, sterilization, distribution, and recording of patient reusable supplies and equipment and the decontamination and assembly of instruments for the OR and throughout the Hospital and Mercy Family clinics. The Sterile Processing Instrument Technician is responsible for the OR case carts being properly setup and assures that all the instruments necessary to do the procedure are on the cart, ready for surgical use. The Sterile Processing Instrument Tech is responsible under the direction of a specific OR clinical leader in a specific area for instrument inventory, ordering, vendor and repair of instruments. What you will Do: Cooperates and communicates with and accepts direction from the Director of Sterile Processing, Surgical Services, Sterile Processing supervisor and OR clinical leaders as it relates to the preparation and distribution of surgery supplies and case cart setups on a daily basis. (Communication, Team Work) Maintains an accurate inventory of supplies in work areas and assumes the responsibility for decontamination, distribution, and recording of patient reusable supplies and equipment. (team Work, Initiative) Responsible for the OR case carts being properly setup and assures that all the instruments necessary to do that particular case are on the cart and ready for surgical use.
