About The Position

The Instrument Technician position is responsible for overseeing processes associated with all RME (REUSABLE MEDICAL EQUIPMENT) instrument repairs/loaners/etc. ; except for specialty items (i.e., daVinci robotic arms, eSims, luque wires (MPR Ortho), cranial plating (Stryker), aneurysm-clips (Peter Lazic), etc.). These processes ensure that RME technicians, SPD prep/assembly, and OR core technicians have reasonable access and information to find the RME they need to do their jobs; this includes all RME not excluded above.The position revolves around serving the SPD prep/assembly and OR core technicians. Must understand the urgency of staff’s requests; staff answers directly to the RME Inventory Supervisor.

Requirements

  • High School diploma/GED.

Nice To Haves

  • One year of experience as an Instrument Tech or recent certification as an Instrument Tech.
  • Certified Instrument Tech preferred.
  • 2 years of inventory control experience

Responsibilities

  • Performs decontamination, assembly, and packaging of medical equipment and tools.
  • Provides assistance to operating room staff.
  • Provides staff with necessary supplies and/or equipment.
  • Loads up and transports medical instruments and equipment.
  • Performs tests on and utilizes mechanical equipment in the completion of duties.
  • Ensures proper storage of instrumentation.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
