About The Position

JILA is encouraging applications for a 12-month Temporary Instrument Shop Assistant position to work on laboratory upgrades, maintenance and shop projects. Requirements

Good mechanical skills
Experience working around sensitive laboratory equipment, preferably within a higher education setting
Experience with moving, and rigging of laboratory equipment
The ability to advise and teach safe techniques for working in laboratory and machine shop spaces
Excellent organizational skills to keep laboratory and machine shop spaces safe and productive
Ability to follow all safety procedures and precautions
Enthusiasm to encourage and support scientific research

Nice To Haves

Experience working with and maintaining clean room equipment
Experience setting up laboratory optics tables
Degree in engineering, physics or similar

Responsibilities

JILA Instrument Shop Assistant will help the Instrument Shop with maintenance, lab projects, moving laser tables, ordering equipment, and general question answering.
