What You Will do in this Role: Function as the Instrument Room Technician on a variety of instrument room procedures. Prepare the appropriate instruments and equipment for sterile processing. Operate all sterilization equipment and washers. Participate in sterilization process by proper cleaning and decontamination of all instruments and equipment used during surgical procedures. Assemble instrument sets with appropriate instruments as listed on the count sheets. Demonstrate proper placement of sterilization indicators in sets and on wrapper instruments. Wrap instrument and equipment properly for sterilization. Maintain proper documentation of autoclave loads and their contents. Demonstrate procedure for daily test and biological monitoring of autoclaves. Identify any loss, damaged, or malfunctioning of instruments to appropriate person. Organize own time and activities effectively, set priorities to insure timely turn around of instruments and equipment. Anticipate possible problem situations, intervenes or advises appropriate personnel of situation requiring intervention. Review OR schedule and prepares instruments for ready availability for each procedure. Coordinate processing needs with Cath Lab, Respiratory, Acute Care, Critical Care and Emergency Room as needed. Participate in general Operating Room activities related to: quality improvement, continuing education, maintenance of unit planning, orientation of new personnel, emergency preparedness. Demonstrate understanding for the needs of total patient care. Be available for call as assigned by supervisor. What Qualifications You Will Need: Graduate of High School – Diploma or Equivalent (GED). Certified in BCLS. CRCST preferred Your Shift: Full Time Lubbock Heart & Surgical Hospital specializes in the care of cardiac, orthopedic, nephrology, urology, and general medical patients. We are also a highly active inpatient center mainly centered on surgical procedures that include cardiothoracic, orthopedic, urology, and general surgery. We have a 24-hour Emergency Department with 5 fully equipped ED rooms, 4 fully operating OR rooms, 4 cardiac catherization labs with 1 electrophysiology room, 11-day surgery rooms, 58 acute care beds spread over three units, and 16 cardiac critical care rooms.
