Mountain View Hospital is looking for an Overnight Instrument Processing Technician to join our team! JOB SUMMARY: The Instrument Processing Technician cleans, packages, sterilizes, and stores the supplies, instruments and equipment. Facilitates and demonstrates cooperative behavior with colleagues and supervisors at all times.   • Adheres to the sterilization process policies and procedures.
  • Cleans each item according to manufacturers’ instruction.
  • Inspects instruments under microscope for damage and defects; lubricates items as required.
  • Determines that each item is in good working condition.
  • Sorts and arranges items into proper trays according to established policy and procedure.
  • Wraps trays and individual items according to established policy and procedure.
  • Accurately labels each item with name and expiration date.
  • Correctly operates sterilizers, ultrasonic washer and other equipment for processing items.
  • Positions items correctly in sterilizer and selects proper cycle; seeks assistance when needed.
  • Checks indicators for proper functioning.
  • Performs required biological monitoring tests on all sterilizers according to established policy and procedures.
  • Maintains availability of supplies for continuity of recording throughout sterilization process.
  • Cleans sterilizers according to established policies and procedures.
  • Education/Certification: High School graduate or equivalent, preferred.
  • Experience: Experience in instrument processing functions preferred.
  • Language/Communication: Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
  • Mental Capabilities: Can frequently and consistently make sound judgments under time constraints.
  • Interpersonal: Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Can adapt to rapidly changing workloads due to changes in the surgery census. Can frequently and consistently make sound judgments.
  • Performance: Demonstrated understanding of sterilization principles required. Ability to respond quickly to physician and patient needs.
