About The Position

The Instrument/Electrical Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems and instrumentation within a refinery setting. This role involves performing preventative maintenance, installing new equipment, and ensuring compliance with safety guidelines. The technician will work with various control systems and electrical components, demonstrating a strong understanding of electrical principles and instrumentation math.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of industrial Instrumentation/Electrical experience required.
  • Associate degree or technical degree in an electrical or instrumentation field preferred.
  • Knowledge and/or experience with Allen Bradley PLC, Honeywell or Foxboro DCS, and power distribution preferred.
  • Ability to work on-site and in-person is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with advanced instrumentation math and measurement variables.
  • Familiarity with flow, pressure, temperature, and level instrumentation.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs Distributed Control Systems and Programmable Logic Systems.
  • Performs preventative maintenance on electrical systems and instrumentation control loops.
  • Installs new field equipment tie-ins to the existing DCS system.
  • Reads schematics, loop drawings, and one-line drawings to troubleshoot motor control circuits.
  • Ensures compliance with safety guidelines and procedures during all work activities.
  • Records all preventative maintenance and repairs completed on equipment.
  • Repairs, maintains, and installs electrical systems and equipment according to safety procedures and electrical codes.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of grounding, shielding, and electrical wiring systems.
  • Uses test equipment and alignment tools to perform assigned tasks.
  • Maintains and troubleshoots various types of instrumentation and control systems.
