About The Position

The Instrumentation and Electrical Engineer reports to the Maintenance Engineering Manager and will support online continuous site process analyzers which monitor environmental compliance, process optimization, and process safety. The Instrument & Electrical Engineer's responsibilities will include the support and ownership of site-wide mechanical integrity efforts and reliability through the application of technology. This role will influence and drive the equipment's health and overall Site/Business competitiveness. In this role, you will design and implement fundamental Instrumentation and Analytical engineering projects to address plant needs.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as an Instrumentation and Electrical Engineer in a petrochemical environment.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification preferred. Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in design in a petrochemical environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and make meaningful impact to technical requirements on projects.
  • Hold optimization of equipment maintenance activities and strategies background.
  • Ability to work closely with both the Production Team and Technical Team to ensure the reliability and continuous improvement of the instrument and electrical system.
  • Understand the economic impact of plant availability is significant and modify in progress construction projects; make appropriate adjustments to schedules as needed and communicate changes to appropriate parties.
  • Interpret, analyze, apply, articulate, and ensure compliance with relevant laws, rules, contracts, ordinances, regulations and guidelines.
  • Analyze problems, identify alternative solutions, project consequences of proposed actions and implement recommendations in support of goals.
  • Strong commitment to safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and documentation abilities with the capacity to understand complex problems and distill the message into a clear plan.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Demonstrated success in safety performance management.
  • Must have a valid state issued driving license.

  • Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, and rules of composition and grammar.

Nice To Haves

  • Maintenance and testing of safety shutdown systems and high voltage electrical equipment.
  • Preferred experiences include the use and programming of Distributed Control Systems.
  • Experience in manufacturing environments fostering a positive workplace culture.
  • Operations and maintenance expertise with a strong focus on safety.
  • Collaborative experience working with engineering, quality, finance, and supply chain teams.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Preferred: Master’s degree in engineering or other technical field from an accredited college or university and/or Professional Engineer/Engineer-In-Training certifications.
  • Expertise in predictive and preventative operations strategies.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CMMS software.
  • Commissioning/Pre-commissioning experience

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement fundamental Instrumentation and Analytical engineering projects to address plant needs.
  • Provide engineering support for field and online analyzer applications, CEMs systems, combustibles, and toxic gas detectors to enable assets to meet safety, environmental, regulatory and process control requirements.
  • Engineer a wide range of instrument and systems such as controls, PLC, DCS (Yokogawa preferred), Analyzers, transducers, wireless applications (Flow, Pressure, Temperature, Valves).
  • Utilize performance data, metrics, and trends to assess analyzer performance to drive improved reliability of analyzer applications.
  • Support maintenance and operations in the plant instrumentation and analytical equipment through research, specifying, and design.
  • Identify and rapidly deploy new value-added instrumentation and analyzer technologies to advance our reliability strategies.
  • Facilitate industry leading Reliability Safety Programs, i.e., SIS, Safety Managers, IPL, SIF, Critical Alarms, Interlocks, and Management Systems.
  • Provide engineering support and equipment specification, troubleshooting with analyzer technicians and performing equipment level Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA).
