Job Summary: Location: Methodist Hospital Address: 8303 Dodge St, Omaha, NE Work Schedule: 40 hours per week, varying hours Performs various duties related to surgical instruments. Purchasing, set assembly, set assignment, par levels, set maintenance, maintaining instrument tracking system, coordinating in-services, consignment inventory, loaner set process (checking sets in and out), and instrument set quality checks.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or General Educational Development (G.E.D.) required.
- 3-5 years experience in a surgical environment such as an operating room required.
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) required.
- or Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) required.
- Requires knowledge of surgical instrumentation.
- Able to interpret Instructions For Use (IFU).
- Understanding of instrument sterilization.
- Able to use computer programs, Microsoft Office Suite, and instrument tracking program.
Responsibilities
- Performs the duties of instrument maintenance, repair or replacement.
- Assist with instrument vendor selection for quality and price.
- Builds sets for all services. Reduces set inventory as necessary.
- Purchases instruments and assigns instruments to sets and to selected services.
- Establishes par levels for back stock instruments.
- Maintains instrument par levels to the established levels.
- Maintains the instrument tracking system.
- Coordinates in-services on instrument care/handling.
- Coordinates all loaner sets.
- Maintains set consignment inventory.
- Conducts quality checks on instrument sets.
- Processes instrument sets.
