Job Summary: Location: Methodist Hospital Address: 8303 Dodge St, Omaha, NE Work Schedule: 40 hours per week, varying hours Performs various duties related to surgical instruments. Purchasing, set assembly, set assignment, par levels, set maintenance, maintaining instrument tracking system, coordinating in-services, consignment inventory, loaner set process (checking sets in and out), and instrument set quality checks.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or General Educational Development (G.E.D.) required.
  • 3-5 years experience in a surgical environment such as an operating room required.
  • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) required.
  • or Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) required.
  • Requires knowledge of surgical instrumentation.
  • Able to interpret Instructions For Use (IFU).
  • Understanding of instrument sterilization.
  • Able to use computer programs, Microsoft Office Suite, and instrument tracking program.

Responsibilities

  • Performs the duties of instrument maintenance, repair or replacement.
  • Assist with instrument vendor selection for quality and price.
  • Builds sets for all services. Reduces set inventory as necessary.
  • Purchases instruments and assigns instruments to sets and to selected services.
  • Establishes par levels for back stock instruments.
  • Maintains instrument par levels to the established levels.
  • Maintains the instrument tracking system.
  • Coordinates in-services on instrument care/handling.
  • Coordinates all loaner sets.
  • Maintains set consignment inventory.
  • Conducts quality checks on instrument sets.
  • Processes instrument sets.
