About The Position

Kordsa Global, a leading supplier of industrial nylon, is seeking an Instrument & Controls Technician for its facility in Laurel Hill, NC. This position is crucial for the maintenance and off-shift support of all electrical, instrumentation, and automation systems within the plant. The technician will play a key role in maximizing the performance of automation systems, ensuring that they operate at world-class levels. The role involves providing technical training to both maintenance and production personnel, thereby enhancing their skills and knowledge in the field. The Instrument & Controls Technician will be responsible for writing PLC programming for both new and existing equipment. This includes programming for Variable Frequency Drives (VFD), DeviceNet, Profibus, CANbus, and Ethernet IP devices. The technician will also troubleshoot and repair a variety of systems, including electrical power distribution, continuous processes, and communication networks. This position requires a strong understanding of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), VFDs, servo motors, and other sophisticated equipment, as well as the ability to use various test equipment for diagnostics. In addition to troubleshooting, the technician will install machinery and equipment associated with manufacturing and plant systems, modify machinery components as necessary, and perform specific maintenance tasks as scheduled. The role also includes instrumentation troubleshooting, repairs, and calibrations, as well as participation in preventative maintenance activities. The technician will provide developmental assistance to co-workers and new hires, technical assistance on equipment modifications, and procurement assistance for projects and unplanned maintenance failures. Furthermore, the technician will oversee project scopes that may require electrical and mechanical design of experiments and will lead and participate in lean efforts such as 5S, Kaizen, and Six Sigma initiatives.
