About The Position

The Instrumentation and Controls (I&C) Intern role is part of our summer internship program within our Engineering & Development Services group for a qualified engineering students interested in gaining engineering experience on projects in one or more of the many sectors that Black & Veatch supports like power generation, renewables, water treatment, oil and gas, cyber and physical security. In this position, potential office locations include: Ann Arbor, Michigan Houston, Texas Overland Park, Kansas Internship Program Benefits Hands-on experience at an employee-owned engineering, procurement, consulting, and construction company. Learning opportunities through mentorship and co/lab trainings. Networking opportunities with leading experts in the industry.

Requirements

  • No experience required.
  • Current enrollment in ABET accredited university in Engineering program.
  • All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Gain experience in a working environment through meaningful work assignments.
  • Exposure to Black & Veatch company culture and have a opportunity to network with experienced engineering professionals and executives.
  • Perform engineering related tasks, under close supervision, gaining familiarity with department design guides, standards, systems, applicable engineering codes and Black & Veatch policies and procedures.
  • Assist in the preparation of engineering deliverables such as Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), engineering schedules and specifications.
  • Exposure to project scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Opportunity to participate in internal project review and coordination meetings and assist in coordinating with the project team by sharing information and design decisions.
