Austin Industrial is seeking an Instrument and Electrical (I&E) Technician to join our team in Florence, SC. The I&E Technician will be responsible for testing, calibrating, troubleshooting, overhauling, and repairing electrical systems, as well as controlling, indicating, and measuring instrument devices to ensure they meet specified operating performance. This role requires proficiency in using hand tools, testing and calibrating instruments, and precision measuring instruments. The technician must be able to read and understand manuals, blueprints, schematics, and testing specifications, and should possess knowledge of electrical schematics and PLCs. In this position, the technician will plan, layout, and install electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures. They will also be tasked with reading blueprints, schematics, and loop drawings, preparing job reports, and performing calibration and inspection of instrumentation devices, including transmitters, valves, and analytical instruments. Troubleshooting and checking out electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems using proper test equipment is a critical aspect of the role. The technician will perform installation, repair, and preventative maintenance on electrical control systems, including MCCs, transformers, switchgear, bus bars, and both high and low voltage motors. Safety is paramount in this role, and the technician must be able to perform work while wearing personal protective equipment, including rain gear, chemical protective clothing, respirators, safety harnesses, and more. The job requires a full range of mobility, including the ability to reach overhead, work in various positions, and climb stairs or work at heights. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.
