Description To plan and conduct independent work requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, application and adaptation of instrumentation and control techniques, procedures, and criteria. To devise new approaches to problems, and prepare or modify drawings, specifications, calculations, charts and graphs, and monitor work for compliance to applicable codes, accepted engineering practices and UAB standards. To read, understand and interpret blueprints, drawings, floor plans, schedules, and manufacturer's operating and/or maintenance specifications as they relate to electrical, mechanical, plumbing, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) and special equipment, building structures and finishes. To maintains and perform tests, calibrations, evaluations repairs, modifications, replacements and installations on HVAC, chiller and boiler control systems and devices to include pneumatic, electrical, electronic, and direct digital control systems. To respond to requests from architects, engineers, energy managers, building occupants and others regarding testing, evaluating, calibrating, and documenting mechanical and electrical controls and metering systems. To perform the work of other maintenance personnel or to assist in the completion of their work to include HVAC Mechanics, Electricians, Central Plant Mechanics, etc. To perform other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned or directed by Division management and supervision.
