About The Position

The Division of Rheumatology at the University of Colorado, seeks a full-time (1.0 FTE) Instructor in Aurora, CO. This position would involve establishing a research program under the mentorship of a senior faculty member, a range of general rheumatology care, collaboration with rheumatology APPs, interaction with medical trainees inclusive of rheumatology fellows, and support of primary care and other subspecialties in the facilities. This position would involve a range of general rheumatology care, collaboration with a rheumatology APPs, interaction with medical trainees inclusive of rheumatology fellows, and support of primary care and other subspecialties in the facilities

Requirements

  • Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
  • MD or DO.
  • Board certified or board-eligible in rheumatology.
  • 1-2 years of mentored clinical research experience.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Current State of Colorado Medical License and DEA by the employment start date.
  • 0-4 years of experience as an MD or DO
  • Clinical research education through a post-graduate program with plans to complete degree.
  • Experience with conducting clinical research exams with participants, including consenting and examining for rheumatoid arthritis with a 64-joint count and sputum collection.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
  • Outstanding customer service skills.

Responsibilities

  • Clinical duties include ½ per week (0.125 cFTE) in Rheumatology Clinic, outpatient clinical care at the UCHealth Hospital in Aurora, CO.
  • Teaching activities may include leading formal/informal teaching sessions including lectures, didactic sessions and bedside interactions as appropriate for medical students, residents, fellows and other pre- and post-doctoral trainees in a manner and level commensurate with other faculty members.
  • Research duties will include establishing an independent research program focused on understanding the natural history of rheumatoid arthritis under the mentorship of a senior faculty member.
  • As part of establishing this program, the individual is expected to obtain external funding and present their work through oral presentation and publications.
  • Interactions with faculty at the Anschutz Campus and clinical research collaborations are highly encouraged.
  • The clinician will have opportunity for academic promotion judged on criteria of demonstrated excellence as a clinician, educator and scholar.
