About The Position

The Instructor will utilize a Government-provided Program of Instruction in accordance with Army policy and program guidance, following detailed procedures and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP). The role involves providing academic instruction for various programs including the High School Completion Program (HSCP), Basic Skills Education Program (BSEP), GED preparation, secondary programs, special emphasis language programs, and military professional development training. Instruction will be delivered using diverse methods such as face-to-face, classroom, Distance Learning (DL), computer-assisted, assessment, evaluation, and intervention. Key responsibilities include providing Functional Academic Skills Training (FAST), test preparation, and prerequisite study for service schools and college classes. The instructor will also be responsible for maintaining student records and course documentation, developing Individualized Education Plans (IEP), measuring student outcomes, and using diagnostic tools like the Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE) to create customized instruction plans. Administrative tasks include using GoArmyEd for class announcements, student enrollment, attendance tracking, test score posting, and progress monitoring. Additionally, the instructor will support special events and maintain a clean, professional work area and operational computer equipment.

Requirements

  • Shall be able to read, write, speak, enunciate clearly, and fully comprehend the English language.
  • A bachelor's degree in any area of study and a Teaching Certificate from any state or a master's degree in any area of study. The degree must be from a college or university that is accredited by a national or regional accredited agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
  • End-user instructional experience in Distance Learning (DL) or formal training.
  • DL for the sites involved in DL and the ability to assist students with DL curriculum and with DL technical equipment is required along with a demonstrated knowledge and proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office computer programs.
  • Minimum of two (2) years relevant experience consisting of at least one (1) year experience in individualized or classroom instruction, including prescriptive remediation of skills in the areas of Math, Reading, English Grammar, Science, Writing, Language Arts, or oral and written communication.
  • A National Agency Check with Investigation (NACI) is required for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize a Government-provided Program of Instruction in accordance with Army policy and program guidance.
  • Follow clearly detailed and specific procedures IAW site Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) or similar written directive.
  • Utilize various methods of instruction (e.g., face-to-face, classroom, DL, computer-assisted, assessment, evaluation, and intervention) to provide appropriate and adequate academic instruction for the High School Completion Program (HSCP), the Basic Skills Education Program (BSEP), preparation for the official General Education Development (GED) exam, secondary programs, special emphasis language programs, and military professional development training. All methods must be IAW SOP, AR 621-5, and/or current directives.
  • Provide Functional Academic Skills Training (FAST), test preparation, prerequisite study for service schools and college classes, and military professional development training.
  • Maintain student records and course documentation, providing this information to the ESO/ESS as required.
  • Develop student Individualized Education Plans (IEP) to plan and deliver instruction based on individual needs.
  • Measure student outcomes, maintain student records, and course documentation IAW SOPs and written directives provided by the Government, providing this information to the ESO/ESS as required.
  • Use the Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE) or other diagnostic tools to develop customized plan of instruction for each student.
  • Use GoArmyEd to announce classes, enroll students, document attendance, post test scores, and monitor progress.
  • Support special events as requested by ESO (i.e. college fairs, graduation, etc.).
  • Maintain work area, office, and classroom environment in a clean, neat, professional, and orderly manner.
  • Ensure computers and peripherals are clean and operational.
