About The Position

The University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus, Department of Cardiology, is seeking an Adult (or Adult/Gero) Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant for a non-teaching cardiology service. This role primarily involves inpatient management of post-procedural or short, planned admission patients undergoing procedures such as ablations, pacemaker and AICD implantations, TAVR, MitraClip, Watchman device implantation, and Tikosyn admits. The position also includes a component of general cardiology consults. While primarily inpatient, there are possibilities for ambulatory management of these patients as part of a multi-disciplinary team. The ideal candidate will have experience in general cardiology with some exposure to cardiac procedures. Requirements

  • State of Colorado Certified Physician's Assistant or Inclusion on the State of Colorado Advanced Practice Registry as an Advance Practice Nurse
  • National Board Certification
  • CPR/ACLS Certified
  • Prescriptive authority

Nice To Haves

  • 3-5 years of experience in the clinical management of complex cardiology patients.
  • Inpatient cardiology and/or critical care experience.
  • Excellent communication skills to interact with multiple medical disciplines.
  • Excellent bedside manner and physical exam skills.
  • General Internal Medicine knowledge base.

Responsibilities

  • Inpatient based management (assisting physicians and independent management) of patients on the non-teaching Cardiology service and General Cardiology consult service.
  • Participating in discharge planning and transitions of care from the inpatient to the outpatient setting.
  • Admissions and daily rounding on patients admitted to the non-teaching cardiology service.
