About The Position

Academic Faculty Contract, 171-day, Benefits Eligible (Tenure Status Negotiable Upon Hire) This position will teach full time, in person, at a college or high school campus location. Duties and Responsibilities: Teach 15 equated load hours/semester (to include material and preparation time) Design standards-based instructional content and delivery systems including online instruction Develop and grade assignments, projects and exams and projects to evaluate student learning and progress Maintain accurate attendance rosters and submit student grades, as required Deliver courses at all program levels Ensure safe operation and usage of all program related equipment and supplies Maintain a minimum of 5 office hours/week/semester Participate in meetings, activities, and gatherings, as appropriate, that support student achievement, school operations, and/or faculty/industry collaboration Support student learning by incorporating pedagogical strategies that promote student engagement and success such as active learning, projects, and authentic, problem-based activities Assist, where needed, with promotion through open houses, school visits, tours, development of promotional material, social media, or other relevant activities Assist with student advising and registration, as needed Use a student-centered focus to engage in regular data collection and program review/assessment; identify and recommend opportunities for program improvement to maintain industry relevance Build and sustain relationships with current and potential external partners, to include accreditors/inspectors, industry and K-12 partners Lead, manage and/or participate in subject specific industry advisory committees Participate in strategic planning, goal setting, course and program assessment, and development of course outlines and learning objectives Collaborate with colleagues and serve on college and NSHE committees, as needed/assigned Maintain industry-standard knowledge and skill Perform other duties as assigned to provide a high-quality learning experience for students

Requirements

  • Associate's degree or equivalent from a regionally accredited institution of higher education in Welding or professionally related area. A combination of education and experience may be substituted
  • American Welding Society certification in SMAW, GTAW, GMAW and FCAW, as well as demonstrated ability to operate seismic approved E71T-8 flux-core wire, or ability to obtain without one year of hire
  • Three years of welding experience to include welding fabrication and/or seismic zone welding
  • Ability to use industry-relevant technology
  • Knowledge and ability to use a computers, digital applications, software and internet
  • Effective communication skills with students, faculty and other community members
  • Knowledge of and ability to execute current teaching methods, vocational and academic curriculum, and education programs.
  • Ability to evaluate, design, and implement curriculum and assessment using appropriate teaching methodologies
  • Ability to make administrative and procedural decisions and judgments on sensitive and/or confidential issues
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations
  • Effective teaching, facilitation and classroom management skills
  • Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports
