Nevada State University invites applications for the position of Instructor - Scorpion STEAM Academy who will develop and deliver instructional content for a summer camp-style course. The Scorpion STEAM Academy (SSA) at Nevada State University supports the development and growth of a diverse community of young STEAM learners through innovative, engaging experiences that promote the acquisition of interdisciplinary knowledge and skills to enhance student's personal, academic, and professional career success while meeting the needs of tomorrow's workforce of Nevada. SSA promotes an increased interest in science, technology, engineering, and math, including their applications in art and music, through targeted classroom-based learning reinforced by hands-on projects and educational field trips to facilities of industry partners. Candidates should be prepared to discuss specific content they would offer in their application materials and at the time of the job interview. Positions are open for camp instructors in a range of STEAM fields including, but not limited to, the following camps: Basic & Applied Sciences (e.g., biology, physics, forensics), Engineering and Technology (e.g., robotics, coding), Fine and Visual Arts (e.g., traditional, digital), Medical and Health Sciences (e.g., anatomy, kinesiology), STEAM disciplines not listed; feel free to contact program staff at [email protected] to discuss your discipline of interest. Each discrete camp will be offered in a one-week format with approximately 30 hours of educational lessons, supplemental demonstrations, and career exploration activities per week. Camp content can be repeated each week for which it is scheduled. Applications will be accepted for single-week contracts with preference given to those able to teach on multiple weeks. Summer 2025 day-camps will take place Monday to Friday between June and July during the following weeks: Week 1: June 2nd through 6th, Week 2: June 9th through 13th, Week 3: June 16th through 20th (OFF 6/19), Week 4: June 23rd through 27th, Week 5: June 30th through July 3rd (OFF 7/4), Week 6: July 7th through 11th, Week 7: July 14th through 18th, Week 8: July 21st through 25th. SSA roles are seasonal as the summer camps are a limited term program.
