About The Position

McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston, a leading academic health center, invites applications for a full-time (1.0 FTE), non-tenure clinical track Professor position and Division Lead in the UTHealth Houston Children's Heart Institute(CHI) as a part of our Pediatric Cardiac Critical Care Division at the Heart Center Intensive Care Unit (HCICU) at Children's Memorial Hermann Hospital. The CHI at Children's Memorial Hermann Hospital has been named one of the top 30 hospitals nationally in Cardiology & Heart Surgery by U.S. News & World Report. With a referral base that includes regional, national, and international patients our four cardiothoracic surgeons perform > 690 surgeries per year. Our 19-bed (soon to be 24-bed) HCICU is one of the highest acuity/low mortality units in the U.S. and is complemented by a cardiac intermediate unit with an additional 18 beds (soon to be 24 beds as well). In collaboration with pediatric sub-specialists at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston, the HCICU provides 24/7 comprehensive care for newborns, children, and adolescents. The HCICU offers innovative solutions and provides high-quality, culturally responsive, family-centered care to critically ill infants, children, and adolescents with congenital and acquired heart disease across the full spectrum of disease complexity. We are a leader in biventricular repairs. In addition to pre-and post-operative care, the HCICU provides comprehensive heart failure/transplant services, including mechanical support (ECMO and VAD) from our platinum-status ECMO program. The selected candidate will contribute to the UTHealth Houston Children's Heart Institute's mission as an international leader in caring for children with cardiac conditions, advancing research in congenital heart defects and pediatric heart failure, and training the next generation of specialists who will provide life-saving care to patients.
