About The Position

Surgical Technology faculty are responsible for conducting assigned formal classroom teaching, consistent with curriculum design and content outcomes, to include didactic, laboratory, and clinic instruction. Collaboratively develop course outlines and clinical experiences to implement the curriculum design, as well as evaluating student performance in lecture, laboratory, and clinical courses. Academic advising of students, degree transcript tracking, tracking student progress, and retention of students. Review and analysis of program data and outcomes, student learning outcomes, and retention in accordance with the University's policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Surgical Technology, must be a graduate of an education program in surgical technology accredited by a nationally recognized programmatic accreditation agency.
  • 2 years of experience, either in the operating room first scrub role, or as an instructor in surgical technology, and/ or a combination of both, within the past five years.
  • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) through a national certification program that is accredited by the National Commission on Certifying Agencies (NCCA)
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in related field from a regionally accredited academic institution
  • 5 years of experience, either in the operating room first scrub role, or as an instructor in surgical technology, and/ or a combination of both

Responsibilities

  • Didactic, laboratory, and clinical instruction. Development and implementation of remedial plans.
  • Develop, implement, and conduct/proctor assessments on program and course student learning outcomes. Utilize the University's learning management system (LMS), Exam Soft, and Trajecsys. Requires travel to clinical sites in the Central (Alexandria) and South (Lafayette and surrounding areas) Louisiana
  • Develop instructional materials; course outlines, laboratory and clinical experiences to implement the curriculum design and any tasks assigned by the Director of Surgical Technology
  • Student academic advising, degree transcript tracking, tracking student progress, retention of students.
  • Participate in program, divisional, and University committees and meetings. Requires some travel to Eunice and Lafayette campuses.
