About The Position

100% Clinical Effort You will be expected to maintain 1.0cFTE (clinical effort). Clinical Practitioners at 1.0 cFTE will be expected to provide coverage for 1,376 hours. All clinical hours obligations are negotiable with the Section Head at any time. This coverage will consist of Children's Hospital Colorado, Colorado Springs location. Coverage will include: Pediatric emergency care Pediatric Observation Unit medicine Jeopardy shifts (an internal physician coverage system for unanticipated absence) Practitioner must maintain active medical staff privileges at all other facilities where ED or urgent care services are provided by the Children’s Hospital Colorado NOC unless a site is specifically excluded by mutual agreement by the practitioner and the medical director of the Children’s Hospital Colorado NOC. You will be expected to attend at least 75% of the monthly joint section and operational updates meetings of the Section of Emergency Medicine. It is recommended that you participate in Children’s Hospital Colorado Main or with anesthesiology one time per year to maintain airway skills as well as other technical seminars as deemed by the section and/or practice site in conjunction with input from the medical director. Clinical teaching of Medical Students, Family Practice Residents and Pediatric Residents Clinical Supervision and support of onboarding for Advanced Practice Providers Attendance and participation in required Section monthly meetings Participation in Quality Improvement and development of Clinical Care Guidelines Maintenance of skills required for provision of high quality, patient centered, safe urgent/emergent care of children. Annual requirements include but may not be limited to: o Two half-day Acute Care Education sessions put on by the Section per academic year o One high fidelity code simulation at the Simulation Center at CHCO and at least one code simulation at a local NOC site per academic year o Maintenance of PALS certification o Maintenance of CME relevant to clinical work o Attend other technical seminars as deemed mandatory by the section and/or practice site in conjunction with input from the Director

Requirements

  • Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine Degree
  • Board certification or eligibility in: Pediatric Emergency Medicine or Pediatrics and Emergency Medicine.
  • Active certification in Pediatric Advanced Life Support
  • Active ATLS
  • Active Colorado Medical License
  • Active Colorado State DEA license
  • Must successfully pass a 10-panel drug test through Children’s Hospital Colorado
  • Must be willing and able to pass a national criminal and sex-offender background check

Nice To Haves

  • Three or more years' experience in pediatric acute care environment
  • Experience teaching medical students and residents
  • Completion of fellowship training in Pediatric Emergency Medicine
  • Experience with pediatric patient population; pediatric emergency, critical care or urgent care exposure ideal
  • POCUS trained
