About The Position

The Department of Psychology and Sociology, at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, invites applications for a part-time, 9-month, Instructor in Clinical or Counseling Psychology position beginning Fall of 2026. The Psychology programs are among the largest in the College of Liberal Arts, with approximately 500 majors, 100 minors, and 40 graduate students. We seek applicants with a doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology or Counseling Psychology expected to be conferred by the time of appointment. Applicants must be licensed or license-eligible as a psychologist in Texas. Successful candidates will be expected to teach clinical psychology courses at the undergraduate and master’s level, which may include courses in psychological assessment, psychopathology, and psychotherapy. There may also be opportunities to develop courses in their area of specialization. Part-time faculty carry a 2-2 teaching load. The successful candidate’s responsibilities will also include mentoring student research and serving on thesis and oral exam committees in our Clinical Psychology MA program. Instructors will also be expected to provide clinical supervision to master’s level students, and actively engage in service to the department and profession. The successful candidate should have an understanding of multicultural issues and relevant experience in their applications to pedagogy and clinical practice. Requirements

  • Earned Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology, Counseling Psychology, or School Psychology from an APA or CPA accredited program.
  • Advanced ABD will be considered; a degree must be conferred by the time of appointment.
  • License-eligible as a psychologist in the state of Texas at the time of appointment.
  • Understanding of multicultural issues and relevant experience in their applications to pedagogy and clinical practice.

Nice To Haves

  • Licensed as a psychologist, preferably in the state of Texas.
  • Clinical experience focused on forensic psychology or justice-involved populations.
  • Experience and/or ability to effectively develop and teach clinical psychology courses at the master’s and undergraduate level.
  • Experience mentoring students in research.

Responsibilities
