About The Position

The University of Southern Mississippi invites applicants for a full-time, nine-month non-tenure-track Instructor of Accounting position to begin in August 2026. Our specific instructional needs at this time are in the areas of financial accounting and managerial/cost accounting.

Requirements

• A master's degree in accounting or other business-related field with 18 graduate-level credit hours in accounting
• Meet the requirements of either an "instructional practitioner" or "scholarly practitioner" in accounting for AACSB accreditation purposes
• A minimum of five years of professional experience in the practice of accounting
• Currently be a licensed Certified Public Accountant or a Certified Management Accountant
• Evidence of excellence in collegiate teaching and institutional/professional service is required for candidates with prior employment in higher education

Nice To Haves

• Experience in public or corporate accounting
• Experience teaching face to face / hybrid / flipped / online classes at the university level
• Experience with assurance of learning

Responsibilities

• Excellence in teaching undergraduate courses in accounting
• Service to advance the mission of the accounting program and the instructor's school, university, and the academy
• Maintain qualification as a Scholarly Academic or an Instructional Practitioner
• Contribute to the maintenance of separate AACSB accreditation
