About The Position

Faculty members are primarily teachers and are responsible for the preparation and implementation of assigned courses. Faculty maintain office hours and engage in departmental, divisional, and college-wide activities. They are also required to remain current in their academic fields and in technology and are encouraged to pursue leadership roles within their discipline. Must be able to facilitate student learning and help students in applying nursing theories and principles to the practice of nursing. The incumbent will conduct classes and/or supervise clinical experiences and simulations as assigned. The successful candidate will have a commitment to working with a diverse student population, collaborative learning, use new technologies in the classroom, and be able to assume a role in online education. Excellent communication skills are also required, as is an openness to new pedagogies and a willingness to participate in departmental curriculum collaboration and outcome assessment. Work and or teaching experience specific to community health nursing will be preferred. Candidates invited for an in-person interview will be required to present a teaching demonstration.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver classroom, laboratory, simulation, and clinical instruction aligned with course objectives, learner outcomes, and professional nursing standards, using appropriate instructional materials, technologies, and evidence‑based teaching practices.
  • Prepare, administer, proctor, grade, and post examinations and other assessments in accordance with course requirements and college deadlines.
  • Supervise and evaluate students in clinical settings, including selecting appropriate patient assignments; overseeing direct patient care; conducting pre‑ and post‑clinical conferences; and providing timely formative and summative feedback.
  • Collaborate with healthcare agencies and community partners to plan, implement, oversee, and evaluate clinical learning experiences and serve as a clinical liaison to ensure quality placements and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with students and colleagues through office hours, electronic communication, learning management systems, meetings, and other approved methods
  • Assess student learning and clinical competency and participate in course, program, and institutional assessment, Academic Program Review, and continuous improvement activities.
  • Contribute to curriculum development and revision and support program planning and evaluation in compliance with accreditation and licensing standards.
  • Orient and support part‑time or adjunct nursing faculty regarding course expectations, clinical requirements, and program policies.
  • Participate in departmental, institutional, and college service activities, including meetings, committees, and student engagement initiatives.
  • Maintain current nursing licensure, required certifications, and professional competence through continuing education and ongoing professional development in nursing and nursing education.
  • Adhere to all college, departmental, state, and federal policies and regulations, including student privacy (FERPA), safety and infection control standards, and the proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials.
  • Treat students ethically, fairly, and consistently, and foster an inclusive and respectful learning environment.
  • Fulfill all responsibilities and obligations outlined in the applicable faculty collective bargaining agreement and institutional policies
