Requirements

  • Associate degree or higher in any field or educational equivalency.
  • Must have a minimum of 5 years of full time or equivalent (10,000 hours) experience as a licensed nail technician (manicurist) or manicurist instructor.
  • At least 3 years of related work experience in the last 5 years, or two years of teaching nail technician coursework at the post-secondary level within the last 5 years at an accredited school of Cosmetology or Nail Technology.
  • State of Wisconsin Manicuring Instructor Certificate or State of Wisconsin Cosmetology Instructor Certificate.
  • Must have a valid State of Wisconsin Cosmetologist or Manicurist license.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with INFOnline or other online information management systems used for student advising, student programs, grading, class schedules and rosters.
  • Experience with Blackboard or other web-based course management systems.
  • Experience with technology-based instructional delivery systems including SMART symposium, interactive touch screen monitors, LCD projectors, DVD players and/or other classroom technology.
  • Experience with emerging technologies (e.g., social networking applications).

Responsibilities

  • Prepare for and deliver instruction and perform teaching-related activities.
  • Manage the classroom/laboratory.
  • Develop curriculum and monitor and revise as appropriate to maintain course effectiveness; assist in program evaluation.
  • Manage equipment, supplies and materials.
  • Assess student performance and advise students on academic issues.
  • Collaborate with the advisory committee in the program area. Attend departmental and institutional meetings.
  • Promote the education/training program, participate in efforts to recruit and retain students, and participate in efforts to market MATC.
  • Support student organizations and activities.
  • Develop relationships with business and industry.
  • Complete program evaluation and follow-up.
  • Maintain certification, continue professional development and stay current in the field. Perform other duties as assigned.

Benefits

  • Starting hourly wage of $40 per course hour of teaching.
  • Compensation for an additional 45 minutes of time for each hour of instruction to cover office hours and prep time, equivalent to $70 per hour.
