MVCC is seeking to fill a full-time, tenure-track, ten-month Instructor position in the School of STEM-Career. This position will provide instruction for a variety of courses in the Welding and Computer Numerical Control (CNC) Machinist certificate programs within the Metal Fabrication AOS program. Successful candidates will have the ability to teach theory and safe practice of a variety of modern metal fabrication methods. Topics of study include manual machine tools, CNC machining, computer-aided manufacturing (CAM), 3D solid modeling, as well as sheet metal fabrication and welding processes, including gas metal arc welding, gas tungsten arc welding, shielded metal arc welding, oxy-fuel processes, and plasma cutting. Teaching faculty at MVCC have the primary responsibility of fulfilling the College mission of providing high-quality educational opportunities to meet the diverse needs of our students. Our employees have an opportunity to make a difference in students' lives every day. Full-time faculty members teach contracted classes in accordance with established policies and guidelines. Courses may be taught in traditional classroom settings and over the Internet. This position may include both daytime and evening classes on our Utica and/or Rome campuses. Specific assignments will be made according to the academic qualifications and availability of the individual and the School needs. In addition to teaching, full-time instructors participate in program assessment, curriculum development, student advisement and facilitating student internship experiences, as well as recruiting for the program. They serve as members of various School and College Committees.

Requirements

  • Minimum of an Associate degree in welding, metal fabrication, metal machining, or related field.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of experience in the metal work field or teaching metal fabrication.

Responsibilities

  • Provide instruction for a variety of courses in the Welding and CNC Machinist certificate programs.
  • Teach theory and safe practice of modern metal fabrication methods.
  • Cover topics including manual machine tools, CNC machining, CAM, 3D solid modeling, sheet metal fabrication, and various welding processes.
  • Participate in program assessment and curriculum development.
  • Advise students and facilitate student internship experiences.
  • Recruit for the program and serve on various School and College Committees.
