Our Program and Who We Are Looking For Portland Community College’s Medical Lab Technology (MLT) Program is a leader in educating the next generation of lab technicians. We are currently seeking a full-time faculty member (Instructional responsibilities will be focused in Fall, Winter and Spring terms) who can teach a breadth of program courses and also serve as the program’s’ NAACLS-approved program director. PCC’s MLT Program offers a 2-year associate’s degree that provides on-campus courses and labs to prepare students for the ASCP certification exam and a career as a lab professional. The program is the sole MLT program in Oregon and is located at our Cascade Campus in the historic Albina Neighborhood of North Portland. Requirements

  • A master’s or doctoral degree
  • ASCP-BOC or ASCPi-BOC generalist certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist/Medical Technologist
  • Knowledge of education methods and administration
  • Knowledge or a willingness to learn current NAACLS accreditation procedures and certification procedures.
  • Three (3) years of teaching or training experience
  • Two (2) years of experience working in a clinical laboratory setting performing testing or in a post secondary laboratory education program

  • Teaching philosophy that incorporates the value of constructive feedback and culturally responsive instruction

  • Experience with program development and curriculum revisions in an academic setting, or change implementation in a clinical setting
  • Experience with or the willingness to develop skills with universal design principles in education
