About The Position

Are you ready to shape the skills and confidence of the teams who keep our transit system running safely and smoothly? Develop, coordinate, facilitate, and manage new hire and all operational training for new and current employees to maintain company standards for operating equipment, providing customer service, and regulations adherence. This includes specialized training programs for facilities maintenance staff, ensuring safe, efficient, and code-compliant maintenance of transit buildings, stations, and other infrastructure.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Business, or related field. Related experience may be substituted for a degree on a year-for-year basis for up to four years.
  • Class B/CDL license with passenger endorsement.
  • Three (3) years’ experience delivering training programs, curriculum, and classes for a medium or large organization
  • Three (3) years’ experience in transit environment with three (3) years of supervisory or lead experience
  • Knowledge of authority operations; safety, labor, and transit regulations; and training principles and practices.
  • Ability to work a varied work schedule, sometimes with minimal notice.
  • Ability to manage inter-departmental projects, supervise employees, develop curriculum and training materials.
  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a diverse population.
  • Knowledge of automotive electrical systems. 12, 24 or high voltage.
  • Familiarity with automotive or diesel manufacturer OEM software, Cummins, Allison, Voith, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct new, continuous, and refresher operations, facilities, and vehicle maintenance training programs.
  • Schedule training sessions for onboarding, refresher, or certification.
  • Develop and prepare training courses, lesson plans, and conduct both classroom and facilities/shop instruction.
  • Maintain current standards and implement new technology.
  • Maintain a relationship with equipment manufacturers and industry experts for training improvement.
  • Conduct technical, compliance, and mandatory training courses.
  • Design and administer simulated troubleshooting equipment to trainees and current staff.
  • Coordinate and conduct Commercial Driver's License (CDL) training, if needed.
  • Conduct student/employee evaluations according to performance standards.
  • Recommend progressive actions for student mechanics to include dismissal or disqualification.
  • Deliver progressive coaching.
  • Evaluate operating lines for hazardous conditions.
  • Mentor employees, post-training, and monitor their work to address potential issues.
  • Review mechanics' performance for adherence to standards.
  • Develop and lead training specific to facilities systems such as HVAC, electrical, plumbing, access control, fire suppression, and structural maintenance.
  • Provide guidance and certification support for facilities staff related to regulatory compliance (e.g., OSHA, EPA, building codes).
  • Qualify maintenance employees in operation of buses, CDL, and other industrial systems/equipment.
  • Support Capital Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s Safety Management Systems (SMS) process by following safety and security policies, considering safety in every action, and reporting safety and security concerns.
