About The Position

This position is OPEN until Filled. Reviewing applications as received. This position will teach undergraduate classes in Land Surveying and Geomatics. This position will teach undergraduate classes in Land Surveying and Geomatics. These will include civil engineering (CEE), construction engineering management (CEM), upper-division computer-aided design (CADD), and land surveying (SURV) courses. Candidates must also have knowledge in surveying concepts such as static GNSS surveys, imaging stations, understanding of datum, licensing laws and the land surveying profession. Candidates must also have knowledge of GIS and CADD as applied to land surveying and geomatics. Outdoor field work is required.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in Land Surveying and/or Geomatics or equivalent program from an accredited college or university and 10 years of comparable professional experience OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Holder of a currently active Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) License.
  • Must maintain licensure at own expense.

  • Preference will also be given to those with relevant work experience who bring professional capabilities and those with the ability to build connections with industry and foster new relationships.
  • Knowledge of basic surveying skills including use of automatic levels, total stations, RTK GNSS units and data collectors.
  • Knowledge of surveying concepts such as static GNSS surveys, imaging stations, understanding of datum, licensing laws and the land surveying profession.
  • The ability to use GIS and CADD for land surveying and geomatics applications.
  • The ability to hike to and around survey practice fields, as well as occasional setting or resetting of monuments and maintenance of surveying equipment.
  • The ability to be a productive team player and to interact well with peers, students and colleagues as well as stakeholder from industry, government agencies, and the public.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, interpersonal skills, and strong interest in undergraduate teaching.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in written and oral use of the English language is required.
