About The Position

Provides quality instruction of arts/culture/history for cultural classes, camps, tours, programs and activities for the benefit of the youth participants. Shifts include summer (June to mid August) Tues, Wed and Thurs between 9:00am and 3:00pm. The salary range for this position is $19.07- $25.74 , depending on qualifications and experience. This opportunity will be available to applicants until Monday, 2.2.26 at 12:00 P.M. M.S.T. This is a part-time, non-benefited working less than 20 hours per week. Essential Functions: Instruct participants in class, camp or program; develop and implement age appropriate lesson plans. Prepared to lead tours of art/history or other exhibits, as the exhibit may pertain to the lesson or program. Participate in required training. Inspect classroom/program environment and equipment to ensure safety, and handle emergencies according to established procedures. Complete administrative tasks such as skill assessment of participants, attendance sheets, class or program evaluations, timesheets. Prepare and submit class descriptions for brochures and other promotional materials. Assess supplies and provide supply lists. Provide make-up sessions as required. Other Job Functions: Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School graduate or GED
  • 4 years previous experience leading/teaching adult and/or children’s art and culture activities
  • Previous participation in and sound knowledge of the specific lesson activity
  • Knowledge of specific art media or cultural topic required
  • Must have previous experience leading in a classroom or presentation setting with children and/or adults
  • Strong oral and written communication skills required
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of people effectively and diplomatically
  • Strong customer service skills required
  • Ability to handle difficult situations involving participants with patience, good judgment, discipline and diplomacy
  • Must demonstrate competent organizational and planning skills
  • Ability to instruct or present in an outdoor setting if necessary
  • Knowledge of programming and understanding of the physical, cognitive, and socio-emotional needs of individuals with varying ages and disabilities
  • Understands, learns and use adaptations, accommodations and physical assistance techniques required for individuals with disabilities as needed
  • Work with a diverse group of people effectively and diplomatically
  • Handle difficult situations involving participants with patience, good judgment, and with diplomacy
  • Maintain confidentiality with confidential information
  • Respond quickly and efficiently to safety situations that arise

Nice To Haves

  • Some course work in art, culture, anthropology, education or related field preferred
  • Course work in therapeutic art, special education or related field preferred
  • Previous experience teaching or co-teaching therapeutic art activities or related programming preferred
  • First Aid and CPR certifications preferred
