About The Position

Cedars of Marin provides day programs and residential opportunities for adults with developmental disabilities. Our exceptional person-centered programs nurture creative, productive, joyful, and healthy lives. As a team member at The Textile Art Collaborative (TAC), you will work with adults with developmental disabilities within a creative environment. TAC is located on 22 acres overlooking San Anselmo and the facilities include a community garden, art barn studio space, upgraded kitchen, weaving studio and more! We are currently seeking a skilled, compassionate part-time Instructor in our Animal Husbandry Program: In this role you will work with a group of participants to ensure the Alpacas, Sheep, and Goats at the Cedars location are well cared for by providing food and water, regularly cleaning and maintaining barns, pens and program areas. You will maintain and repair fences and gates. This opportunity requires care for animals and their surroundings, demonstrated patience and compassion, and a strong desire to help Cedars participants learn more about best practices in animal care. Physical strength is required as this position includes shoveling hay and compost, pulling weeds, trimming hedges, and performing regular area maintenance. Requirements

  • Experience working with adults with developmental disabilities is preferred.
  • Experience caring for animals including feeding, cleaning, maintaining habitats, etc.
  • Experience in leading, advising, organizing, and motivating groups of people.
  • The ability to teach and provide skills.
  • The ability to manage a crew of clients and work with a team of leaders.
  • A clean California DMV driver's license and a minimum of three years of driving.
  • The ability to pass a criminal background check with the FBI and DOJ.
  • CPR and First Aid certifications (or the willingness to acquire both).
  • An upbeat, positive attitude and good sense of humor are helpful!
