About The Position

The Institute on Development and Disability Occupational Therapy (IDD-OT) fellowship program is designed for an occupational therapist who aspires to be a leader in the field of pediatric occupational therapy, with specific focus on neurodevelopmental disabilities. The OT Fellow will gain advanced clinical skills in client-centered assessment and treatment of children and youth with special health care needs throughout the lifespan. The OT fellowship functions within the Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities (LEND) program. The LEND program promotes leadership, research skills, and clinical expertise in graduate level health care professionals who intend to devote their careers to working with children, youth, and adults with neurodevelopmental disabilities. A mentored research project is required. The OT fellow will be involved in study design, implementation of research project, and presentation of research project in May of the fellowship year. The clinical experience is anchored in the Child Development and Rehabilitation Center (CDRC) outpatient clinics. The OT fellow will participate in interdisciplinary child development, neurodevelopment, autism, , feeding, and lifespan transition clinics. The OT fellow will become an expert in providing client-centered care focused on improving participation in meaningful occupations in the home, school, and community. Quality of life and transition to new environments (i.e. home to school, school to post-secondary education, and health care transition etc.) will be a special focus of this fellowship. This is a full-time position that will last for one year. At least 40% of the experience will be mentored practice. Requirements

  • MA, MS, or OTD in Occupational Therapy
  • Applicants for the fellowship program must complete an accredited program in occupational therapy before the start date.
  • Applicants must be eligible for licensure in Oregon and have obtained licensure within one month of starting the program (by September 1st).
  • Extensive experience in pediatrics (including work experience, fieldwork experience or other experience outside of the OT profession).
  • Applicants whose work incorporates a global perspective, and a demonstrated commitment to issues of diversity, equity and inclusion or multicultural competency.

Nice To Haves
