About The Position

The IttyBitty Sports Lead works in partnership with the San Bernardino School District to provide an enriching, developmentally appropriate sports program for children ages 6 and younger. This role is responsible for leading engaging activities that promote fine motor skill development, physical fitness, and social-emotional growth in a safe and supportive environment. The ideal candidate is energetic, patient, and passionate about creating positive early childhood experiences, while being comfortable traveling to various school sites across the city of San Bernardino, collaborating with multiple stakeholders, and managing groups of up to 25 children at a time.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Must have reliable transportation to travel to various school sites in San Bernardino.
  • Associate’s Degree (AA) in Early Childhood Education, Physical Education, Recreation, or related field preferred.
  • Experience working with young children in a recreation, education, or sports environment preferred.
  • Ability to design and implement creative, engaging lesson plans.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for working with children, parents, school district staff, program directors, and executive management.
  • Proven ability to manage and engage groups of up to 25 children.
  • Patience, adaptability, and enthusiasm for early childhood development.
  • CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain before start date).

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the San Bernardino School District, program leaders, and executive management to implement/create an engaging, age-appropriate sports curriculum aligned with early childhood development principles.
  • Plan and lead physical activities, games, and exercises that support fine motor skills, coordination, and balance.
  • Integrate social skill-building into activities, teaching concepts such as teamwork, sharing, and following directions.
  • Adjust programming to meet the needs and developmental levels of all participants.
  • Provide a fun, encouraging atmosphere that motivates children to participate and explore new skills.
  • Travel to multiple school sites within the city of San Bernardino to deliver programming.
  • Maintain open communication with parents/guardians, school district partners, program directors, and executive management.
  • Ensure participant safety by following all supervision protocols, maintaining equipment, and keeping play areas clean and organized.
  • Track participation, provide feedback, and make curriculum adjustments as needed to enhance program success.

Benefits

  • Part-time, variable hours Monday – Friday 9 am – 3:30pm totaling 24 hours a week.
