About The Position

Under the general direction and supervision of the Dean, Construction, and Electronics Division, and responsible Associate Deans, The Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning & Refrigeration Instructor is responsible for providing instruction, developing, and updating the program courses in a classroom/laboratory environment at the Milford campus, in the Prison Education Program (PEP) and/or other SCC locations. This position is also responsible for lab equipment maintenance and repair, advising students, and working with the program and College committees. This is a full-time, regular position based on a 175-day work calendar.

Requirements

  • AAS Degree in Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning & Refrigeration Technology or related field, plus relevant industry certification or tested experience by examination during the interview process.
  • Candidates should also possess EPA certification.
  • Relevant certifications that may substitute for tested experience would include, but are not limited to, HVAC Journeyman License, HVAC Master's License, NATE Certification, HVAC Excellence Professional Level Technician Certification, Certified Master HVAC Educator, or ACCA Certification.
  • Examination will include knowledge and/or physical demonstration of competencies related to brazing and soldering, refrigeration troubleshooting, Hydronics, and sheet metal fabrication.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Student Instruction in Program Courses as Assigned
  • Create and Develop Teaching Aids and Supplements
  • Develop New Courses and Update Existing Courses
  • Maintain and Upgrade HVAC/R Classroom/Laboratory Instructional Facilities, Instruments, and Equipment
  • Complete and Maintain Program and Student Records
  • Maintain Technical Competency in Teaching Area
  • Participate in Area Campus-Based Program Activities and Teams
  • Act as a Technical Advisor for Students in the HVAC/R Program
  • Individual Development Plan (New Instructors)
  • Professional Development
  • Annual Safety Training
  • Perform Other Campus and Program Duties as Assigned
  • Promote a Culture of Belonging
