About The Position

The School of Life Sciences at Arizona State University is seeking two full-time, non-tenure-eligible instructors for general biology courses. The role focuses entirely on teaching lower-division undergraduate courses, with an anticipated start date of August 16, 2025. Instructors will be responsible for delivering engaging and effective instruction in general biology and possibly human anatomy and physiology, both in-person and online. The position also involves supervising teaching assistants and collaborating with faculty to enhance course materials and student success.

Requirements

• PhD or terminal degree in biology, biological sciences, or a closely related field by time of appointment.
• Experience teaching lower-division general biology courses effectively at the university level.
• Demonstrated potential for teaching excellence at the undergraduate level, evidenced by organization and communication skills or strong teaching evaluations.

Nice To Haves

• Prior university or college level teaching experience in general biology in various platforms, including fully online and face-to-face.
• Experience and willingness to teach in innovative ways and collaborate with other faculty.
• Ability to develop engaging course curricula and materials that support teaching and learning.
• Experience using a learning management system (e.g., Blackboard, Canvas) to support learning.
• Demonstrated commitment to advancing the principles of the ASU Charter.

Responsibilities

• Teach lower-division undergraduate courses in general biology and possibly human anatomy and physiology.
• Supervise graduate teaching assistants, undergraduate teaching/learning assistants, and/or academic associates.
• Collaborate with faculty to update and develop course materials.
• Contribute to unit-level initiatives that promote student success and engagement.
• Deliver courses in both in-person and online formats.
