About The Position

The College of Southern Nevada invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Instructor position in the Hospitality Management department. This position will focus on teaching courses in Food & Beverage Management and Culinary Arts. Demonstrating teaching excellence, the successful candidate will instruct students in accordance with college policies and procedures while providing an excellent teaching experience to a diverse student body.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • Five years or more of professional hands-on experience in Food and Beverage or Culinary Arts.
  • Three years of teaching experience.
  • Must be ServSafe Certified by 8/2026.
  • Written and verbal communication skills that will facilitate effective teaching and mentoring.
  • Ability to stand for 6 hours
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Work is routinely performed in a classroom, laboratory, kitchen, and/or online
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students and colleagues
  • Reliable transportation may be required for teaching in multiple campus locations

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s in hospitality management or related field.
  • Two years of management experience in a professional kitchen and/or front of house.
  • Five years of teaching experience.
  • Experience in online teaching.
  • Prior experience using Canvas Learning Management system.
  • Ability to design new courses for traditional in-person delivery or online classes.
  • Experience working with a diverse/multicultural student body and/or workforce.

Responsibilities

  • Teach a full range of Culinary Arts and/or Food and Beverage courses with differing modes of instruction including lecture, demonstration, laboratory, practical application, online, and hybrid formats.
  • Present course materials in a manner that educates and engages students using effective teaching strategies.
  • Develop syllabi and course materials that may be taught on-ground, online, or hybrid.
  • Provide learning activities that stimulate student involvement and encourage critical thinking.
  • Effectively evaluate student performance while meeting assessment guidelines.
  • Maintain regular office hours to assist students; respond to students' emails and voice mails in a timely fashion.
  • Perform accurate assessment of student performance.
  • Develop a professional working relationship with other faculty and staff in the department and the college.
  • Serve on college-wide and departmental committees as needed.
  • Participate in program/division meetings and activities.
  • Maintain professional competencies in the subject area and currency in instructional methodologies through professional associations and professional development.
  • Obtain certifications required to teach classes as requested by the program director or department chair.
  • Work with Director to provide internship opportunities (paid/unpaid) for students and serve as a mentor to students.
  • Participate in extracurricular activities related to program areas to include, but not limited to student clubs, groups, recognition, and award programs.
  • May perform other related tasks as assigned by the Program Director, Department Chair, Dean, and/or Academic Vice President.
