About The Position

Founded in 1968, Cecil College serves the post-secondary and continuing education needs of Cecil County residents, with over 50 years of service. Governed by a Board of Trustees, the College is led by Dr. Mary Way Bolt, its fifth president. Located in Maryland's northeastern county, near Interstate 95, it is accessible from Philadelphia, Baltimore, and Wilmington, Delaware. Cecil College enrolls approximately 2,500 credit students and 3,400 non-credit students, offering associate degrees, certificate programs, and non-credit classes through an open admissions policy. Employees, including online/virtual instructors, must reside in Maryland or contiguous states (DE, PA, VA, WV, DC) and be authorized to work in the US, as Visa sponsorships are not offered. The qualified applicant will instruct Apprentices in the electrical industry within a fast-paced educational setting. Instructors are expected to have experience and expertise in various Electrical Construction aspects, including Residential, Commercial, and Industrial Wiring. Responsibilities also include providing support to students and staff, delivering hands-on instruction in a lab setting with a focus on safety, maintaining accurate student achievement records, and ensuring classroom discipline.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of the NEC, with a thorough understanding of Electrical Theory and Code compliance specific to Construction Electricity
  • A thorough knowledge of the methods, materials, tools and equipment used in installing and repairing electrical systems, controls, and electrical machinery and equipment in buildings, programmable logic controllers, and construction site wiring
  • Computer literacy with programs such as MS Word and PowerPoint
  • Must be a self-starter
  • Creative in problem solving
  • Exercise good judgments and ethics
  • Superior customer service skills
  • An understanding of AC/DC electronics/electricity, basic mathematics, solid state and digital electronics
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Completion of an Approved Apprenticeship program, Journeyman’s license with documented training in Electrical Theory or a Master Electrician’s License
  • Experience in the Electrical Construction trade as an Electrical Foreman, Inspector, supervisor or other active position

Responsibilities

  • Instruct Apprentices in the electrical industry
  • Effectively instruct Apprentices in the different Electrical Construction aspects of the trade such as: Residential Commercial Industrial Wiring
  • Provide support to students and fellow staff members
  • Work in a lab setting providing hands-on instruction with safety in mind
  • Keep accurate records of student achievement
  • Maintain discipline in a classroom setting
