About The Position

The Instructor Coordinator, Program Director (CoAEMSP) is directly responsible for the actions of the personnel who provide and assist in program related activities (i.e. adjunct faculty, subject matter expert, preceptor). This role includes administration, organization, and supervision of the program, as well as continuous quality review and improvement. The position requires academic oversight, including curriculum planning and development, and the orientation/training and supervision of clinical and capstone field internship preceptors.

Requirements

  • State of Michigan licensure as a Paramedic Instructor/Coordinator.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as an active Paramedic provider.
  • Experience teaching, precepting, or field training, preferably in the EMS field.
  • Possess and maintain a valid Michigan driver's license and maintain an acceptable driving record.
  • Attend assigned meetings.
  • A minimum of an associate's degree is required, and must obtain a bachelor’s degree within 12 months, preferred concentration in education.
  • BLS Instructor status required. Trauma, ACLS, PALS and other specialty program Instructor status preferred.
  • Documented education or experience in instructional methodology.
  • Ability to serve as an effective role model for students and subordinates.
  • Knowledge of instructional equipment and maintenance.
  • Ability to adapt to different styles, ideas, and changes.
  • Ability to identify problems before they occur and effectively deal with stressful situations.
  • Ability to operate office equipment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Skilled in typing, data entry, electronic filing, and document retrieval.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, in the English language.
  • Must complete initial and annual training as required by MMR, MDHHS, and CoAEMSP.
  • Be willing to work from the Saginaw Campus.
  • Must be at least 21 years old.

Responsibilities

  • Know and support the Mission, Vision, Values, Policy/Procedures and standards of MMR.
  • Coordinate and supervise the activities of any personnel and students in any program.
  • Ensure that students and personnel are fully informed of company policies, procedures and other information pertinent to the education department.
  • Coordinate necessary support and resources as necessary and approved to meet needs of the program.
  • Review and act upon incidents, accidents, deviations/exceptions and other reports forwarded from students, preceptors, faculty and the Director of Education.
  • Ensure that CoAEMSP standards are maintained including student didactic, laboratory and clinical progress.
  • Complete program coordination steps as outlined by CoAEMSP and MDHHS.
  • Administer and document results of evaluations to monitor student progress.
  • Provide oversight of the clinical and field experience process using clinical coordinators.
  • Ensure that program preparation is complete and ongoing.
  • Contribute to the marketing process as requested.
  • Assist with special program coordination/instruction as needed.
  • Travel to and observe/evaluate every current paramedic program at least once per semester.
  • Perform other education duties as assigned.
