The Instructor - Computer Support Technology at Chattanooga State Community College is responsible for teaching the Computer Support Technician course, developing curriculum, and providing holistic support to students. The role emphasizes instructional excellence, professional growth, and community service, ensuring that students are well-prepared for careers in Information Technology.

  • Teach the Computer Support Technician course at the Chattanooga campus.
  • Facilitate the classroom instructional process and evaluate student progress.
  • Assign grades and provide academic assistance to students.
  • Maintain attendance and grade records, and counsel students on career goals.
  • Select texts, equipment, supplies, and other learning resources for courses.
  • Develop instructional materials and maintain updated course syllabi.
  • Participate in the annual faculty evaluation process and professional development activities.
  • Support student activities including SkillsUSA and NTHS.
  • Assist in recruitment and selection of college personnel as assigned.
  • Complete the annual Council on Occupational Education (COE) report for the program.
  • Technical diploma or equivalent degree in post-secondary education with credentials in Information Technology.
  • Three years of Computer Support experience within the last five years.
  • Microsoft Office Specialist and CompTIA A+ certifications.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Associate Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
  • CompTIA Network+ and Security+ certifications.
  • Two years of Tier I Service Desk experience or end-user support.
  • Prior teaching experience or evidence of ability to teach.
