Program: 53-56 weeks, starting the second week in June. Typical Weekly Hours: 8am-5pm M-F with one week per month emergency afterhours on-call responsibilities. Program Description: This contact lens optometry residency program is designed for the optometrist interested in furthering their skills in the advanced contact lens care for the management of refractive error including high astigmatism and presbyopia, management of corneal and anterior segment disease with specialty gas permeable and scleral lenses, management of myopia with orthokeratology and soft contact lenses. The program is housed at The Ohio State University College of Optometry in a state-of-the-art recently constructed facility. In addition, the resident will gain experience through an optometry practice with heavy emphasis on specialty contact lens patient population as well as a busy ophthalmology practice with a corneal specialist and specialty lens fitting optometrists. Performance Objectives: Deliver clinical care at an advanced level as determined through formal evaluations of the resident’s patient care Successfully complete all clinical rotations Successfully complete all teaching assignments Complete a paper based on literature review or original research that is suitable for publication in a peer reviewed journal Participate in required journal clubs and/or grand rounds Maintain patient logs Complete all evaluations of students, attending doctors, clinic rotations, and residency
