About The Position

Provides classroom and on-the-job training to all journeymen and apprentice electronic technicians in the operation, troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance of Central Maintenance systems and sub-systems. Develops basic, advanced, and refresher training programs for instruction in all areas of Central Maintenance to include computers, telephone, and radio. Evaluates the performance of students/employees and assists in the administration, evaluation, and development of training programs.

Requirements

  • High school graduate plus a minimum of four years experience in electronics systems (i.e. computers and peripheral equipment and/or communications systems/equipment) maintenance.
  • Two years formal training in electronics required.

  • Two years of formal experience in electronics instruction desired.

Responsibilities

  • Assists the Senior Instructor-Infrastructure Maintenance in assessing overall training needs, specific skill deficiencies, performance objectives, and long-term training requirements. Researches and evaluates possible training solutions and recommends "best practices" training approaches.
  • Provides for the development and/or acquisition of training programs and materials required for classroom and on-the-job training.
  • Conducts formal classroom and on-the-job instruction to enhance the knowledge, skills and abilities of the student necessary to the craft.
  • Monitors and evaluates the progress of employees in classroom and on-the-job training and identifies performance deficiencies and recommends future training. Maintains accurate, up-to-date training records, reports, and training schedules.
  • Measures, evaluates, and reports effectiveness of the existing training process and makes recommendations for process improvements.
  • Conducts classroom and on-the-job instruction for all journeymen and apprentice electronic technicians to enhance the knowledge and improve the skills and abilities necessary to effectively maintain, troubleshoot, and repair all related equipment.
  • Provides for the development and/or acquisition of training programs and materials for classroom and on-the-job training. Recommends improvements to the existing programs.
  • Monitors and evaluates the progress of employees in training and identifies overall training needs of units supported, by developing and delivering training programs. Identifies performance deficiencies and recommends future training. Assists branch managers in identifying training needs.
  • Completes, submits, and maintains accurate up-to-date training records, required reports and schedules.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
