About The Position
Envision yourself in a work environment that has a deep commitment to provide students a chance to succeed in their lives once they reenter society from a correctional facility. The Inmate Instructor is responsible for classroom management, students' curriculum and provides instruction for HSE, ESL and computer classes during a class period. Additionally, the instructor will adhere to the protocols of Bergen County Jail and have a background check performed by the Bergen County Sheriff's Department. Position Summary: Instructors are expected to be flexible and encouraging of students; possess the ability to accomplish assigned duties in an efficient, effective, and competent manner and to strive for improvement and excellence in all work performed. Additionally, instructors must understand the comprehensive role of Bergen County Jail and cooperate and work harmoniously with students, other instructor(s), other civilian jail personnel and officers. Instructors will follow all Bergen County Jail policies, rules, regulations, and guidelines as they relate to this position.
