About The Position

The Department of Psychology at Charleston Southern University invites applications for an Instructor or Assistant Professor of Psychology position beginning 1 January 2026. Charleston Southern University seeks candidates for faculty positions who are professing Christians and who are committed to excellence in teaching and service. They should support the goals of a strong liberal arts education and be willing to explore with students the integration of faith and learning.

Requirements

• Earned Ph.D. in Psychology is preferred but A.B.D. status or an M.S. from an accredited institution will be considered.
• The successful applicant will provide evidence of excellence in teaching and scholarly activity.

Responsibilities

• The successful candidate will have the ability to teach the following courses: General Psychology, and relevant combinations of: Introduction to Statistics, Physiological Psychology, Cognitive Psychology, Physiological Psychology and/or Forensic Psychology, and others as developed.
• The course load is 12 hours per major semester of undergraduate courses.
• Involvement within the department, student advising, campus service and professional development are required.
• Teaching in the summer is available for additional pay; courses are taught both in person and online.
