St. Thomas University College of Nursing invites applications for a full-time Instructor/Assistant/Associate Professor of Nursing position in the on-campus Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program. The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping the future of the nursing students and the nursing program through teaching, clinical supervision, research, and service. This faculty member will contribute to the development of nursing students at the undergraduate level, delivering a student-centered educational experience in line with the University's mission of fostering ethical leadership, cultural diversity, and academic excellence that reflect our Catholic identity. The position offers opportunities for professional growth, collaboration, and making a significant impact in nursing education.

  • Maintain professional standards of practice in teaching in the classroom and clinical.
  • Teach a variety of undergraduate nursing courses, including but not limited to general nursing and specialized courses in the candidate's area of expertise.
  • Develop and implement innovative, evidence-based teaching strategies.
  • Provide academic advising and mentorship to students, helping them set academic and professional goals.
  • Engage in curriculum development, program assessment and evaluation, and continuous improvement initiatives for nursing programs.
  • Participate in faculty meetings and accreditation-related activities, including assisting the Dean of Nursing with the preparation of CCNE accreditation documents.
  • Maintain office hours as per St. Thomas University guidelines and support the program's goals through direct involvement in faculty initiatives.
  • Actively participate in simulation-based learning activities as needed.
  • Collaborate with faculty members to enhance student learning, clinical placements, and program development.
  • Participate in departmental, college, and university service activities, including faculty committees and community engagement.
  • Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and supportive learning environment that promotes student success and addresses the needs of a diverse student population.
  • Conduct and publish research in areas related to nursing practice, education, or healthcare.
  • Stay current with advances in nursing practice and education to continuously improve teaching and clinical instruction.
  • Meet STU College standards for course syllabi creation and submission, classroom management, use of technology, grade submission, and records management.
  • Participate in meetings, projects, recruiting, and committee work.
  • Maintain currency in education and nursing knowledge and application through continuing education activities.
  • Master's or Doctorate Degree in Nursing preferred.
  • Two calendar years or the equivalent of full-time clinical experience as a registered nurse.
  • Formal education in teaching and learning principles for adult education preferred, including curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Florida.
  • Experience in medical-surgical, mental health, pediatrics, and obstetrics is highly desired.
  • Previous leadership experience is highly desired.
