The Holland School of Science and Mathematics (HSSM) invites candidates to apply to join a growing area of the university. The University is expanding heavily in STEM initiatives including engineering, technology, and health care. The Chemistry and Physics department is an integral part of this growth and offers baccalaureate degrees in chemistry and minors in physics and environmental science. Primarily, physics serves as a support program for most other majors within STEM and is growing with the recent addition of the Engineering Program. The department has a strong reputation with nearly 100% placement for graduates in industry, graduate school, and professional programs. The department is looking for a new faculty member to teach undergraduate courses. The candidate must possess a master's degree in physics or related field with preference given to those with a Ph.D. The teaching load is 12 credits per semester with summer teaching possible with additional compensation. The physics program teaches primarily general and engineering physics with rotational offerings of modern physics, acoustics, and special topics. Candidates that are capable of supporting engineering-related courses such as AC/DC Circuits will be given strong consideration. While the primary focus is imparting knowledge in the classroom, it is the goal of HSSM to develop students into productive community members; therefore, experience outside the classroom of mentoring and discipling is also expected.
