About The Position

The Bay Correctional Facility located in Panama City, FL., is now hiring educators to assist with making a difference in the lives of those on the inside. Instructors are responsible for providing instruction to inmates in accordance with approved curricula. They will provide inmates with basic direction in compliance with American Correctional Association (ACA) standards, Correctional Education Association (CEA), Management & Training Corporation (MTC), Florida Department of Corrections (FDOC) and Florida Department of Management Services (DMS) directives.

Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited college or university, preferred.
• Must possess or be eligible for certificate, license or other legal credentials required by state law, regulation or contract.
• A valid driver's license in the state of Florida with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.

Responsibilities

• Plan and conduct classes for inmates in Adult Basic Education (ABE) and General Education Development (GED), life skills, cultural awareness, health education and special curriculum and other subjects selected to correspond with the ability and limitations of the class.
• Prepare special teaching plans, courses, and activities and learning experiences appropriate for the specific inmates assigned.
• Utilize appropriate audio and visual teaching materials individualized to the specific need of the inmate.
• Administer individual educational tests and learning aptitude tests and use the results for prescriptive instruction.
• Participate in staff conferences to develop and improve educational programs.
• Counsel and advise inmates on academic problems.
• Perform other duties as assigned within his/her capabilities as determined by management.
